A conference dedicated to the 49th anniversary of the independence of Angola, which is celebrated on November 11, was held at Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov. Representatives of the Angolan community in Belgorod, under the leadership of the community president, 4th year BSTU student Santos Lufim Zua Dus, gathered at the round table for the fourth time.

The conference brought together students from several universities in Belgorod and Russia: BSTU named after Shukhov, National Research University "BelSU", BUCEL, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, etc. Owing to the mixed format, representatives of universities in Angola and spectators from different parts of the world, Yemen, Mozambique and Guinea-Bissau took part in the discussion.

At the beginning of the meeting the students sang the Angolan anthem in Portuguese, after which they moved on to the presentation and discussion of scientific articles. Participants presented research in the field of healthcare, chemical electrical engineering, information technology, geopolitics, and literature. Poems in Portuguese were also read at the meeting.

Note that since the end of the 15th century, Angola was a colony of Portugal. In 1960, after a rebellion against the colonialists broke out in the capital Luanda, civil war began. On November 11, 1975, Angola declared itself an independent republic. This event became a major milestone in the development of the country.
