Foreign students from Egypt, Nigeria, Congo, Haiti, and Turkmenistan visited  state military-historical museum-reserve “Prokhorovka Battlefield”. During the excursion, they learned about the heroic acts of the Soviet soldiers during the Great Patriotic War and the reason why the place of the largest tank battle is called the “Third Battlefield of Russia.”

The group consisted of both senior students and those who study at the preparatory faculty for foreign citizens of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov are just starting to get acquainted with the history and culture of Russia. A big discovery for foreign students was the museum “Battle for the Weapons of the Great Victory”, where they were told about the heroic work of people home front workers. All people, including women and children, put all their efforts to ensure the approaching victory of the Soviet army over fascism. The students were immersed in a peaceful, pre-war atmosphere, and then in the harsh conditions of evacuation and relocation of people and industrial enterprises, as well as selfless work to provide the front with everything necessary - metal, weapons, food. Young people learned with interest about the process of creating Soviet aircraft.

After lunch, a round table was held with the participation of representatives of the clergy and law enforcement agencies. At the meeting, issues of preventing terrorism and extremism were discussed. Law enforcement officers called on students to be vigilant and careful in the information space, to take a balanced approach to their own publications on social networks, and also talked about responsibility stipulated by the legislation of the Russian Federation.

Representatives of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov  informed about the measures taken by the university management to ensure comprehensive security and anti-terrorist protection of the university campus, as well as about the work of the academic staff and the tutors.

The clergy addressed the foreign students with a warm greeting and spoke about the roots of extremism, the pernicious ideology of the superiority of one person over another on racial, social and other grounds. They emphasized that in Russia one can gain invaluable experience in the interaction and mutual enrichment of cultures, learn to live in respect for other people, and immerse themselves in another culture far from home. At the same time, it is important not to be gullible and not to give in to provocations.

The students also visited the Church of the Apostles Peter and Paul. The walls of the temple, where the names of those killed in the Battle of Prokhorovka were written in gold letters, among which you can find representatives of different nationalities and religions, made a great impression on the young people.

The trip was organized with the support of the autonomous non-profit organization “Gubkin Spiritual and Educational Center “Transfiguration”.
