One more grant from the Russian Science Foundation
Candidate of Technical Sciences Dmitry Malyshev won the 2023 Presidential Research Projects Program competition for grants. For his research, a young scientist of the Belgorod State Technical University named after V. G. Shukhov will receive 3 million rubles from the Russian Science Foundation within two years.
The project of Dmitry Malyshev is dedicated to the automated design of parallel robots based on deterministic and heuristic optimization algorithms. It involves the development of methods for determining the working space for robots and robotic systems of complex configuration, taking into account the intersections of links and the presence of special positions in which robots lose control.
As a result, methods will be created for checking the intersection of robot elements with external objects; a generalized methodology has been developed which is applicable for multicriteria optimization of the geometric parameters of robots; a universal software package was designed using synthesized algorithms and large-scale experiments were carried out on models and prototypes of robots using parallel CPU and GPU calculations.
This will allow to solve urgent problems of automated digital design of new types of robots and robotic systems with increased functionality and characteristics.
“I am extremely pleased with the support of my project. Previously, I used to be only involved in the implementation of projects of the Russian Science Foundation, and this is my first project where I was supported as a leader. The proposed ideas based on the synergy of methods of mathematics, mechanics and high-performance computing are extremely important for the effective design of modern robotic systems,” said Dmitry Malyshev.
