Yegor Plotsyn, a student at Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov, Transport and Technology Institute, became the Russian boxing champion among men aged 19–40. The championship was held from October 3 to 12 in Irkutsk and brought together the country's strongest athletes to form a team to participate in the world championship, which will be held in the spring of 2025.

Three boxers represented BSTU named after Shukhov: in addition to Yegor Plotsyn, these were students of the Civil Engineering Institute, masters of sports Anatoly Popov and Bogdan Priyma. In order to compete in the Russian Championship, the athletes were selected at regional competitions and achieved victory at the federal district level.

Anatoly Popov still lost to his opponent by a split decision. Bogdan Prima managed to win the first fight, but in the second fight, also by a split decision, he still suffered a defeat from his opponent from Khanty-Mansiysk.

Yegor Plotsyn performed the most successfully. Despite his young age - the athlete is only 20 years old - the Shukhovets managed to win over his opponent from the Chechen Republic, and then over a boxer from the Republic of Khakassia, and in the semi-finals, he confidently beat his opponent from St. Petersburg.

In the final, Yegor Plotsyn met a very strong opponent from Vladimir, who has victories in the championships of Russia, Europe and the CIS countries. In previous competitions, BSTU student had already lost to this opponent twice, but this time he was determined to win. In the first round, Yegor's opponent was stronger and faster. However, our athlete managed to pull himself together and regain the initiative. The third round was a triumph for the Belgorod resident. As a result, first place, the title of Russian boxing champion and a pass to the world championship.

"On behalf of the athletes and our sports club, I would like to thank the management of our university, which always supports the athletes: they help to draw up individual training plans, provide sports nutrition, comfortable living conditions.
