The winners of the title “Students of the Year 2025” were named at the Shukhov Belgorod State Technological University.
On November 18, the final of the university's "Student of the Year 2025" competition took place at the BGTU Student Palace of Culture. The show was timed to coincide with International Students' Day, which took place the day before, and the upcoming Russian Higher Education Lecturer’s Day.
Ten contenders—four young men and six young ladies—competed for the main title. The auditorium was filled with jury members, representatives of the university administration, directors, deputy directors for cultural and educational work at the institutes, and support groups.
Before the final, the contenders completed several stages: they demonstrated their athletic training, prepared a public speech on the topic "A Hero in My Family," and held a master class on "Folk Crafts of Russia," demonstrating, for example, how to instantly create a painting, paint an art matryoshka doll, and more.
For the final show, the contestants prepared their presentations, which for the first time took the form of stage performances under the overall theme "Me - Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow," and presented a creative performance. Vocal compositions, contemporary choreography, public speaking, and even a light show created a stunning festive atmosphere, which culminated in an evening-style fashion show.
The jury selected each participant as the winner in one of the categories, but viewers were also able to influence the results. They selected the winners in the "Internet Favorite" category: Diana Golovina (Institute of power engineering and electronics) and Daniil Fesenko (Transportation Technology Institute).
In the Rector's Prize category, Daria Golosnaya (Inatitute of Information Technologies and Control Systems) and Denis Usachev (Institute of power engineering and electronics) were recognized as the best. Valeria Klimova (Construction Engineering Institute) and Daniil Fesenko (Transportation Technology Institute) were unrivaled in the Speaker category; Anna Vergeichik (Chemical Technology Institute) and Daniil Chebonenko (Institute of Technological Equipment and Complexes) were recognized in the Master category. Veronika Rybina (Institute of Technological Equipment and Complexes) and Allaberdi Umarov (Center for International Education and Cooperation) demonstrated the best results in the Creativity category; and Victoria Mezentseva (High Technologies College) won the Sports category. The Jury Prize went to Diana Golovina (Institute of power engineering and electronics).
Based on the results of all stages and the show program, Victoria Mezentseva (High Technologies College) and Allaberdi Umarov (Center for International Education and Cooperation) emerged as the best of the best. The 2024 Students of the Year presented diplomas, ribbons, and statuettes to the competition winners.
