A language club for cross-cultural dialogue of students was launched at BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov
International Club of the Russian Language "Harmony of the Word" has started working at Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov on the basis of preparatory faculty for foreign students.
The club represents a space which unites international and Russian students interested in broadening their horizons and intercultural communication. It focuses not only on educational activities, but also on the development of dialogue between representatives of different cultures. As part of the club activity, international students practice Russian and adapt to a new environment.
For Russian students, participation in the project provides an opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, as well as gain experience in intercultural interaction without leaving the campus.
The first meeting of the club was held the day before. The topic of the meeting of international students with students of the College of High Technologies of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov was "Features of non—verbal communication in different cultures." The participants discussed comfort distance, differences in gesture perception, features of eye contact, and the meaning of a smile in different countries.
"We have created a place where boundaries are erased. It does not matter where you come from, what matters is the desire to communicate, share experiences and discover the beauty of the Russian language together," said Ekaterina Ukhnaleva, Dean of the Preparatory Faculty for Foreign Students.
The Harmony of Words Club is open to everyone, the creators of the project emphasized.
