BSTU representatives took part in the XI All-Russian Congress of Foreign Students

The congress was held from September 13 to 16 at the Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University and brought together more than 300 delegates - foreign students from 34 educational organizations in Russia, representatives of 42 countries of the world. Among them are students of Belgorod State Technological University named after Shukhov Phaddeus Kosinsky Jean from Haiti, Nurullo Saidov from Tajikistan and Daraghmeh Diaa Aldeen Mahmoud Hussain from Jordan. The students were accompanied by the head of the department for work with foreign students at the Center for International Education and Cooperation, Diyar Ayidov.

The XI All-Russian Congress of Foreign Students of Russia was organized by the Association of Foreign Students and the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. 

The Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov noted that the Association of Foreign Students (AIS) currently unites about 100 thousand people from more than 160 countries. The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation actively supports cooperation between Russian and foreign universities both in the field of education and science, and through international cooperation. 

“Your activities are in unison with Russia’s desire to provide young people with the opportunity to receive high-quality higher education. You are making a significant contribution to the training of specialists in demand for partner countries,” said Valery Falkov in a video message to the congress delegates.

 The delegates were welcomed by the President of the Association of Foreign Students of Russia Issa Shaabo. The congress helps to attract the attention of authorities and the public to the problems of foreign students studying in Russia.

 “The main people in our association are foreign students; whatever they approve, that’s what we will work on. The congress of foreign students was created in order to hear the opinions of foreign students, to obtain approval for our work and plans for the next year,” he noted.

 The congress was attended by not only foreign students, but also employees of federal and regional legislative and executive authorities of the Russian Federation, Russian universities, public and other organizations. The program of events included a round table “Practices of interaction between student associations of foreign students and national-cultural autonomies”, a presentation of the platform “Russia is a land of opportunities: your opportunities here and now”, a project session, master classes. The model of an ideal international student community and other topical issues were discussed.

The work of the congress ended with a concert program with the participation of representatives of creative groups of the Youth Assembly of the Peoples of Tatarstan, the League of Students of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Association of Foreign Students. Such events contribute to the development of youth diplomacy in the international student environment and increase the effectiveness of social adaptation of foreign students in Russia.
