Nyakabavu Blessing Tanaka, a first-year Master Degree student in the Department of Real Estate Assessment and Management, was born and brought up in Zimbabwe. There are 16 official languages in his homeland, but the most popular among them is English, which is taught in schools.

Having become seriously interested in construction engineering during his school years, Blessing realized that only abroad could he obtain the required knowledge in his chosen field:

“I decided to study in Russia because engineering education here is famous for its fundamental basis. And at Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov has a wide range of courses for future engineers. Moving to another country is, of course, not easy, but the kindness, responsiveness and support of the academic staff, as well as the hospitality and convenience of the university infrastructure, helped us to adapt quite quickly.”

While studying at BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov, Blessing realized that “construction engineering is something that I want to do more and more,” so he entered the master’s program with a great desire to move forward and develop.

The Master’s student plans to continue his scientific research in post graduate level, prepare and defend his candidate’s dissertation, and he advises current and future students to “be dedicated, not to be afraid to interact with lecturers and tutors, look for and certainly find any opportunities and always maintain high standard in learning ".
