Poultry keeping robot - a new solution for the agro-industrial complex

Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G.Shukhov has developed a unique poultry farming robot for agro-industrial enterprises. It provides the necessary motor activity for the growing bird. The work on the invention became possible due to the participation of the university in the federal program of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science "Priority 2030" of the national project "Science and Universities".

The main purpose of the poultry robot is to keep the birds physically active on the farm: even during the day, the animals can choose a comfortable place and sit still for several hours. In order to prevent muscle atrophy and ensure normal development, the birds must be forced to move. As a rule it is done by a person, engaged in the farm works, however he has to stay in an aggressive environment for a long time and breathe the dust of the poultry house.

The robot poultry farmer is designed to automate this process. The device moves around the interior space and makes the birds leave the places where they stay with the help of light and sound signals. The robot is autonomous and runs on batteries. When the charge level is low, it returns to the starting point. It can additionally loosen the substrate, saturating it with oxygen.

An inertial navigation system is placed inside the robot, according to which it orients itself in space and chooses the direction inside. Such a poultry farmer is able to move around the poultry house in automatic mode, independently building trajectories; also, its work can be coordinated manually using a special program installed on a mobile phone.
