Artists from the Arab world are building the "Art Bridge"
The 8th International Art Painting and Sculpture Forum began its work. Among the participants are painters, graphic artists, sculptors, designers and art students from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait and Egypt. In total over 40 people take part in the event. However, some of them are not just people of art, but those who are engaged in culture in their countries, work in the field of art and architecture education.
The ambassador, speaker, inspirer and interpreter was Dr.Osama Elserwy, Associate Professor of the Department of Architecture at BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov.
– We enrich each other’s culture, share new areas of creativity, – said Vice-Rector for International Affairs of the university Ruslan Lesovik in a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony of the Art Forum, – and our guests, participants in all our open air events, always warmly and with pleasure tell their friends, their fellow citizens about Russia and about our university.
The Painting Forum will last until September 4th. In such a short time, the guests wish to get acquainted with the university, visit the sights of Belgorod, and, of course, complete the creative task, which was announced by the director of the Architectural Institute Vitaly Pertsev.
— I suggest everyone to consider such a subject of our Painting and Sculpture Forum as “Art Bridge: Dialogue of Cultures,” suggested Vitaly Vladimirovich. — Your impressions from travelling around the country, getting to know the city, visiting the campus will form the basis of creative works. Inspiration can be found in landscapes, urbanism, and in the faces of students and citizens. The view of an artist who grew up in a different cultural environment can reveal those conceptual nuances that will become a source of inspiration for our students as well.
A participant in the open air, sculptor Jameel Essam from Saudi Arabia noted that the works of artists do not need to be translated. “Works of art provide an opportunity to get acquainted with the thoughts and feelings of the artist, and to understand without words the way we think. Russia is a very hospitable country, Jameel added, Russians are very tolerant people, they perceive people regardless of what religion you are, or what color your skin is. Russia is a great friend for all of us, and the proof of this is that we all have come here, and we want to come here again and again to get to know this beautiful country, its people and its culture more deeply.”
On the day of opening of the event, the participants got acquainted not only with each other, but also with the university, had a tour to the diorama museum. And from September 1 is a start of real creative intensive activity.
