Rector of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov Sergei Glagolev takes part in the congress of the Russian Union of Rectors, which takes place on July 4 in Moscow at Lomonosov Moscow State University.

The meeting brought together over six hundred heads of Russian universities. Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a greeting to the participants of the congress, in which he emphasized that it is important to increase the potential and quality of all higher education, and to support universities that are striving for development.

The rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Viktor Sadovnichy, addressed the audience. Viktor Antonovich emphasized the importance of the Russian Union of Rectors (RUR), which he heads, and the community’s contribution to the development of education in the country.

“The Union was created in 1992 on the initiative of rectors, and since then the most important government decisions in the field of education have been discussed with the participation of the Russian Union of Rectors. The platform has been used especially actively in recent years in connection with new challenges associated with the transformation of the general world order. We must fulfill the tasks that Russian President Vladimir Putin sets for the scientific and educational community of the country,” noted Viktor Sadovnichy.

The guest of honor was Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko. He presented an updated strategy for scientific and technological development of Russia, which provides for seven priority areas of scientific and technological development and 28 most important high technology technologies. Preserving the population, realizing the potential of each person, technological leadership, a comfortable and safe living environment, environmental well-being, a sustainable and dynamic economy, digital transformation of state and municipal government, the economy and the social sphere - these are the areas on which the main efforts need to be focused.

Participants in the congress of the Russian Union of Rectors will hold a plenary session, after which work will continue in sections. This time, attention will be paid to the national education system as the foundation of the country's scientific and technological sovereignty: cooperation between the Union of Rectors and the Russian Academy of Sciences in the implementation of priority areas of scientific and technological development; the work of the RUR and the “third mission” of universities; RUR activities in the international scientific and educational space; the formation of a sovereign Russian worldview and the education of a patriotic and socially responsible individual.
